WATERMARK PLATE

£35.00

These plates are made with our sand glaze and a mono printed application to create the cobalt oxide surface drawings. Our Watermark Plates have been galvanised in the spirit of the 13th Century Italian paper-making mill in Fabriano, producing the earliest watermark in 1282: the infinity symbol, linking the Middle Ages to contemporary craft production through the shared temporal interest in this potent and ageless motif.

Through the exercise of a single line drawing echoing from the past, the re-presenting of symbolism also brings into focus our human fascination in anthropology itself —here, the examination of behavior across different time periods— and becomes starkly subjective when symbols are utilised and investigated today in the same register as when used in the past, bridging the distance between the epochs via the simple act of drawing on items of use.

H: 3 cm x W: 25 cm

Please be aware, all of H.O.G’s products are handmade. Therefore slight variations will be apparent between each product within its range. No two are identical as might be expected from the mass manufactured market delivered by other companies.
